Jackie Thomas pulled up to her child care center, Damion’s Place, picked up the mail and stretched out beside a baby on a giraffe-printed playmat. She opened a letter from state regulators who had sent over a motion in their case to shut her down. In the chaos of the past year, they’d found Jackie’s center in Overland Park, Kansas, out of compliance in small ways, like having a trash can without a lid, and larger ones, like being understaffed. A hearing was scheduled for Feb. 17, three weeks away.

The death has occurred of Michael Enright of Mount Singland, Garryowen, Limerick. Michael, died (peacefully) at Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home, Newport, Co. Tipperary. Predeceased by his parents Anne and John and sister Rita. Very deeply regretted by his cousins and friends. A private Requiem Mass, for family only, will take place in St. John’s Cathedral, on Saturday (February 13th) at 11am and will be streamed live. Funeral afterwards to Shannon Crematorium. Michael s funeral cortege will pass the family home after Mass on Saturday to enable neighbours and friends to pay their respects.

Mr. Mayor, starring TV legend Ted Danson as a wealthy ad executive-turned-mayor of Los Angeles, is about a month in. It s the latest from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who ve been busy creating a modern TV comedy dynasty following the success of
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
But they ve spent a career writing about New York City, so what s it mean when they start writing about Los Angeles? It s very much New Yorkers spin on L.A., actress Vella Lovell told LAist. She plays Danson s social media influencer-turned-chief of staff.
