Dan Church Aid (DCA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) in conjunction with Women Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC) on Tuesday organized a mock council meeting in Dowa District targeting youthful aspiring politicians from various Young Women Action Groups (YWAGs).
The aim of the meeting was to impart knowledge to the aspiring politicians how council meetings are done and also assuring them that everyone is eligible to handle a political position.

The meeting was organized under the project called Young Women in Active Politics (YWAP) designed to address the core problem of limited participation of young women in politics and equally in membership and leadership positions of political parties funded by European Union (EU).

Democracy Works Foundation has made the APPEAL to political parties to create a space for young women to take leadership positions both at local and national levels.
The organisation’s Chief of Party, Augustine Magolowondo made the appeal Tuesday in Dowa during interface with political party governors in Dowa and youths and advised them to stop the tendency of receiving allowances for sustainability of projects.
Political party leaders in Dowa District have hailed Danchurch Aid and Norwegian Church Aid for facilitating a project dubbed Young Women in Active Politics (YWAP) saying the project has capacitated young women to actively take part in political affairs in their respective communities.

Funded by European Union (EU) the project targets 6 districts including Rumphi, Dowa, Ntchisi,Mzimba,Nsanje and Neno and it is being implemented by various partners that include Women Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC) Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD) and Democracy Works Foundation (DWF).
