Credit: Supplied Microsoft is once again extending partner competencies as the global channel ecosystem continues to face down challenges thrown up by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  Specifically, if a partner’s competency anniversary date is between 1 July and 31 December 2021, Microsoft will extend the existing competency or competencies through to the next anniversary date in 2022 – with the exception of the Cloud Business Applications competency.  According to Dan Truax, Microsoft partner digital experiences and programs general manager, information specific to individual partners will be available in the Microsoft Partner Centre starting this month, aligned to partners’ renewal timeframe.

Now, the company has laid out its timeline for phase-out of the old Azure CSP commerce ‘offer’ the new experience was supposed to replace. As a reminder, the Azure CSP commerce platform updates, originally slated for an October 2019 release, were designed to introduce greater product alignment and a common pricing engine across how customers buy Azure, among other stated benefits for partners and customers alike.

Perpetual software licences in Microsoft’s CSP program enter general availability Perpetual software licences in Microsoft’s CSP program enter general availability Available to enrolled direct bill partners, indirect providers and indirect resellers Credit: Supplied Partners in Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program now have access to perpetual software licences following their entry into general availability.  The licences, which are available to enrolled direct bill partners, indirect providers and indirect resellers, can be sold for on-premises deployments.  In a blog post by Dan Truax, general manager, partner digital experiences and programs of One Commercial Partner at Microsoft, the licences are intended to give partners flexibility for customer hybrid cloud environments.
