Popcorn to become official snack of Indiana

Popcorn was voted by the Indiana House of Representatives and Senate as Indiana’s official snack, with Governor Eric Holcomb making it official. Indiana is the birthplace of Orville Redenbacher who grew up in Brazil. he then started his popcorn company that’s still a household name across the country. Staff with the Clay County Historical Society Museum say they’re excited to see popcorn take center stage. “If you mention the name Orville Redenbacher, everybody knows that name,” Diane Harrison, curator for the Clay County Historical Society said. “Other people I have to tell about and they are very happy to know that we have those people or surprised. They’re surprised, but if you say Orville Redenbacher, you’re knowing to know popcorn.”

Gwynedd vegan café in fundraiser to help endangered Congo gorilla and nearby communities

A VEGAN café in south Gwynedd is fundraising to help save critically-endangered gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Eating Gorilla Vegan Café and Restaurant in Penrhyndeudraeth has teamed up with the Pole Pole Foundation (POPOF) which works to conserve the Eastern Lowland Grauer’s gorilla in the South Kivu region of the country. The fundraising effort will see donations of projects from the café’s ‘Be More Gorilla’ themed merchandise including reusable coffee cups, T-shirts, hoodies and pens. It follows a chance encounter between The Eating Gorilla owner Diane Harrison and The Pole Pole Foundation trustee Nikki Jones, who visited the café whilst on holiday.
