SHUFFLE DANCE will be bringing a little taste of the West End to Dunfermline this month with workshops from theatre stars! The local dance school has organised a series of events to lift the spirits in March which aren t just for their own dancers but for families throughout West Fife. The first workshop on Saturday at 3.30pm has a Strictly Come Dancing theme and is being delivered by West End dancer Scott Coldwell! He has not only toured with Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag on numerous shows but also with Aljaz Skorjanek and Janette Manrara on the remembering Fred UK tour.
FIFE Housing Group has donated a further £5,000 to support local charities this Christmas providing assistance to people most in need within their local communities. West Fife recipients include Dunfermline Foodbank, which has been topped up with further donations from the housing association after help at the start of the pandemic. Additional donations have also been made to the Dunfermline Children’s Clothing Bank and Fife Gingerbread, whose clients would usually have benefited from their ‘Give a kid a coat’ campaign. It takes the total sum donated by the organisation this year to £9,000. Chief executive Nicki Donaldson said: “With the impact of coronavirus continuing to reverberate around the world, a growing number of families throughout Fife are struggling to make ends meet and are being forced to turn to foodbanks and other charities for essential, everyday items.
THE first photograph in this week s trip down West Fife s Memory Lane is of Dunfermline Children s Gala in 1966 and was sent in by reader Alistair McBay, who writes: The boys on banner duty are, from the left, Ian Mason (who I believe became a GP in the town), Alastair Williamson, Derek Brown and myself. The man on the extreme right in hat and glasses was the headmaster, Mr Muir. The second photograph shows children outside McLean School. A series of Old Dunfermline DVDs featuring old images and archive footage is available at olddunfermline.com/shop.
