We hear a lot about the sea turtles nesting on the beaches in our area from May until the late summer months and how to avoid injuring their nests and babies. But another endangered group that we don’t talk about as often are the beach nesting shorebirds. The beach nesting shorebirds known as the least tern and the black skimmer have their nesting season peaking in the busy summer months.
The least tern is the smallest of the North American terns. It is only 8- to 9-inches long and has a wing span of about 21 inches. They have long pointed wings and a deeply forked tail. Their makings are very clean with a white underbelly, light grey back and distinctive black cap covering their head.

Queer up your morning routine by putting a little glitter in your breakfast. Kellogg’s and GLAAD have teamed up again to create a rainbow-themed breakfast cereal in honor of Pride month. They’ve launched a special Together with Pride cereal filled with rainbow and heart-shaped bites, and sprinkled with edible glitter to turn your dull breakfast into some more proud and fabulous. Best of all, Kellogg’s announced they will donate portions of their sales from Together with Pride cereal to GLAAD to help aid in their anti-bullying and LGBTQ+ advocacy efforts.

Kellogg s, in a partnership with the LGBTQ+ media organization GLAAD, has released a Pride-themed cereal called Together With Pride.
Retailing for $4, Together With Pride will be on supermarket shelves in May, just prior to the month of LGBTQ+ festivities. For every purchase, Kellogg s will donate $3 to GLAAD. For the donation to occur, patrons must upload a copy of their receipt to KelloggsFamilyRewards.com.
The 7.8-ounce box is full of a rainbow variety of heart-shaped cereal bites and even edible glitter. Kellogg s famous cereal figures are gathered on the exterior illustration, including Toucan Sam, Tony the Tiger, and the Rice Krispies elves, Snap, Crackle, and Pop.
