St Joseph City Council discusses latest COVID relief funding in Thursday work session

By TOMMY REZAC St. Joseph Post The city of St. Joseph has been allocated $39.7 million from the American Rescue Plan Act that was approved by Congress earlier this year. The city council is now deciding how to best allocate this funding to those who need it most. The council met with city manager Bryan Carter as well as Planning and Community Development Director Clint Thompson in a work session at City Hall Thursday to review the amount and how it will be allocated. The city will receive this funding in two increments. The first $19.5 million payment will come within days, while the next $19.5 million will come in a year.

By WHITNEE ICE  St. Joseph Post  After meeting yesterday afternoon, the St. Joseph City Council has done away with the Krug Park project proposal and instead is proposing a half-cent sales tax for the St. Joseph park system.   City Council Member Madison Davis says the overall goal is to invest in all of the St. Joseph parks.   “The Krug Park project in particular kind of made everybody pause and think about the entire city,” Davis tells St. Joseph Post. “Not just myself, not just the council, everybody in the city.”  City Council Member Madison Davis says the goal is to invest in the entire city of St. Joseph.
