By MATT PIKESt. Joseph PostBuchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett is notifying the public of a new scam contacting registered sex offenders and their employers.Puett reports his office has receieved multiple calls about scammers contacting regisered sex offenders and their employers claiming to be a law enforcement officer threatening the sex offender or employer with arrest if they do not purchase gift cards and give that information to the con artist. The scammer is claiming they are with the Platte County Sheriff's Office currently, but have also recently used the name of the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.
