MORE then three decades of commitment to the town sees the planting of a tree for a retired town clerk. Bevirs Law - a legal company - planted an oak tree in Marlowe Way to mark the 30 years of service given to the town by Johnathan Bourne. Along with a plaque donated by ASF signs. He retired in July 2020 from his long-standing role as town clerk, who supported the town during the repatriations and the town receiving its royal status. His leadership has resulted in the town council achieving the Local Council Award Scheme Gold Award making it one of the top 50 town councils in the country.

The Women’s Society of Washington University announced the winners of the Harriet K. Switzer Leadership Award and the Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarships during its annual membership meeting April 20.
For the first time in 24 years of presenting the Switzer Leadership Award to graduating seniors, the group selected three honorees for their commitment to the university through leadership. Debbie Killmer, chair of the society’s leadership committee, presented the award to Gwen Klein, Delanie Ludmir and Anna Vaclavek.

Klein, a John B. Ervin Scholar, is double-majoring in political science and educational studies, both in Arts & Sciences. A NEW town clerk has been announced for Royal Wootton Bassett. It comes as Johnathan Bourne retired after 32 years but now Stephen Nash will be taking the reins in February. He s been the clerk at Fawley Parish Council, Ringwood Town Council and Swanley Town Council. Having previously served in the army with posting in Wiltshire he s happy to be coming back. Councillor Marion Sweet said: We selected Stephen from a significant number of 12 very strong candidates, but none matched the drive and vision for Royal Wootton Bassett offered by Stephen Nash. Mayor Nic Hughes said: We had a good number of very strong candidates apply for this position and Stephen s experience made him stand out. We are pleased he has accepted the position and look forward to working with him.
