They are trained to deal with fire, but at midnight on Sunday it was snow that Tasmania s Central Highland s volunteer firefighters found themselves battling through.
Snowfalls to 300 metres and slippery road conditions were forecast across Tasmania on Sunday, with police issuing alerts and some roads being closed.
About 10:30pm, the Central Highland s brigade received a call about a group of people and their dogs who were stranded in their cars in the state s icy Great Lakes area, near Lake Verona.
