Penhaligon s Friends receives donation from Persimmon Homes

A Cornwall charity supporting children and young people through bereavement was the recipient of the generous donation. Penhaligon s Friends has been gifted £1,000 from Persimmon Homes to help fund its specialist care packages and grief postal packs. Based in Redruth, the charity has 25 years of experience in supporting bereaved children in Cornwall through a small staff team and more than 70 volunteers. The donation comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which sees the Launceston-based housebuilder donate up to £2,000 to charities and community groups in the region each and every month. Julie Parker, CEO of Penhaligon’s Friends, explained: We have always grown our service to meet local need and over the last year we have developed Grief Postal Packs to send out to children and young people who have experienced a bereavement.

February 25, 2021 By Jessica Mathews / news@whmi.com It was an emotional and bittersweet ordeal as the new Howell City clerk was sworn in. City Council met virtually Monday night and per charter, unanimously approved a motion to officially appoint Angela Guillen to the position with a negotiated salary of $59,000. An offer of employment was earlier extended to Angela Guillen subject to negotiations of an agreement. That was accomplished and Guillen started in her new role on February 16th. It was stated that longtime Clerk Jane Cartwright is leaving after 17 years of stellar service and difficult elections, noting she also served in the dual role of Human Resources director. She got choked up while administering the oath of office to Guillen and both were teary-eyed at the end.

February 4, 2021 Officials in Howell have named the city’s new clerk. Angela Guillen has been selected to succeed longtime Howell City Clerk Jane Cartwright. According to a release from the city, Guillen was one of three candidates interviewed by the city council on January 31st, which unanimously voted to extend her an offer of employment. Guillen, who is currently the Deputy Clerk in Genesee County’s Mundy Township, accepted the offer, saying “it s an honor to serve the wonderful City of Howell. What a blessing to work with a great group of people. I look forward to what the future holds and meeting the extraordinary citizens of Howell.”
