Goal shoot Ellie Bird stepped up for the Tactix after an inconsistent first three games, landing 54 from 55 in a player of the match performance. Bird was superb for the Tactix, showing what she is capable of when she keeps her composure and plays with confidence.

Ellie Bird was outstanding for the Tactix against the Magic, landing 54 from 55. The Magic gave it everything and could have easily nabbed the win in a pulsating final quarter. Australian shooting legend Caitlin Bassett also delivered in the attack end after some sub-par play the last two games. Bassett had arguably her strongest performance since joining the Magic, converting 45 from 48 – an effort that would have encouraged Australian coach Stacey Marinkovich.

Grace Nweke puts up a shot for the Northern Mystics against the Mainland Tactix.
The Northern Mystics have handed the Mainland Tactix their third-straight loss in the ANZ Premiership, but only just, winning 53-52 at Trusts Arena in Auckland on Monday night.
There were signs of improvement for the pre-season favourites, who were in this contest right until the end, something that couldn’t be said about their first two outings.
Ellie Bird tied the game with 15 seconds remaining for the Tactix, but the Mystics went straight to Grace Nweke down the other end, who grabbed the ball under pressure from Karin Burger and Jane Watson, then sank the winner with seconds to spare.
