Sidney man sentenced to 14 years in prison

SIDNEY – A 39-year-old Sidney man who was convicted of two counts of rape by a jury in Shelby County Common Pleas Court was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Joshua L. Scott was convicted in March of raping a girl who at the time was between the ages of 13 and 15, crimes prosecutors said occurred between Jan. 1, 2004, and April 27, 2008.

SIDNEY – After approximately two and a half hours of deliberation, a jury found a 31-year-old Sidney man not guilty of gross sexual imposition Wednesday afternoon in Shelby County Common Pleas Court.
Oziel A. Godinez-Galvan was accused of touching a girl younger than the age of 13 with the purpose of sexually arousing himself or the child, which is a third degree felony. The Sidney man, who identifies by the last name Godinez, denied that he ever touched the girl inappropriately.
Police complete overdose investigation
SIDNEY The Sidney Police Department has completed its investigation of an eighth-grade student’s overdose after allegedly being bullied at Sidney Middle School.
According to Capt Jerry Tangeman, the department was informed of the incident on April 14 2021, when a referral was made to the Sidney Police Department after Shelby County Children Services received information from Children’s Hospital, who is mandated reporters, that the youth was admitted for treatment due to an overdose of Tylenol. Early information received was that the youth may have taken the pills because of bullying acts committed upon him by students and teachers of the Sidney Middle School.
Family seeks help finding missing daughter

SIDNEY The family of Lakeisha Nichole Archie, a Sidney woman who has been missing since 2002, is seeking help from the public about her whereabouts.
Archie’s mother, Elizabeth Immel, is hoping someone who knows anything about her daughter’s disappearance will step forward and provide information.
According to Immel, her daughter was a hard working, single, 22-year-old woman who disappeared after she walked home to her Park Street apartment from her place just down the alley on Pomeroy Avenue on a Saturday evening in 2002. Archie came by to borrow some movies for the night and afterward was never seen or heard from again.
