LIMA The Allen County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution Thursday to demolish the old ODOT train depot in north Lima. The depot, located at the corner of North West Street and Chapman Road, has been abandoned for several years, but the property has been of great value to Allen County. “Today we took the next step into bringing down the train depot out of the old ODOT property. County engineer, county EMA (Emergency Management Agency) and some other county entities are using the property,” said Commissioner Cory Noonan. “We appreciate the agreement with ODOT to use the facility.”

LIMA The Lima Rotary Club will hold a reverse raffle beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 3 in the Youth Building at the Allen County Fairgrounds. The auction is named in honor of Jay Begg, the late Allen County commissioner who was a member of the Lima Rotary Club and chaired the club’s annual auction. The reverse raffle is a major fundraiser for the Lima Rotary Foundation, which distributes thousands of dollars to local charities every year. Cash totaling $10,000 will be awarded to complement the auction items that will be available for bid.
