Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Amazon announced the company will build a robotics fulfillment center in north Shreveport with plans for it to open in 2022.
The $200 million capital investment project will be built in Hunter Industrial Park in north Shreveport near Interstates 20, 49 and 220. The project is expected to create 1,000 full-time jobs, 1,118 new indirect jobs and 800 construction jobs. If you add all that up, $200 million and almost 3,000 jobs that is tremendous anywhere in the United States of America, Edwards said. But we are here talking about northwest Louisiana and Shreveport in particular. This is going to have an impact all across the economy of northwest Louisiana as more and more people have access to this construction and to the contracts.
