ATHENS, Ga. More than $50,000 has been raised for a young Athens boy after he lost his family in an unthinkably tragic house fire on Wednesday.
Three people died in the fire, which 12-year-old Taeden Johnson escaped. The Athens-Clarke County Coroner s Office identified the victims as 52-year-old Penny Fields, 35-year-old Penyada Fields and a 9-year-old girl as Mariah Fields.
Taeden was taken to a hospital with burn injuries that were described as not life-threatening, as well as some smoke inhalation.
A GoFundMe has been started for Taeden, which so far has raised more than $50,000 dollars. He has burn wounds on his face, elbow, and arm but he is smiling and I am so thankful for that. House fire in Athens kills three; boy escapes the flames

Three people died in a predawn fire Wednesday at a home in Hallmark Mobile Home Park, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department.
A young boy managed to escape with minor burns and some smoke inhalation, Fire Capt. Nathan Moss said.
The names of the victims have not been released as the State Crime Lab has the bodies for positive identification, Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson said.
Two women and a juvenile girl were killed, authorities said.
A neighbor called the fire department at 3:27 a.m. to report the home next his mobile home was on fire, according to Moss. The first unit arrived at 3:33 a.m., he said.

3 dead, 1 hospitalized after fire at mobile home park

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Three people died and a child was hospitalized following a home fire at a mobile home park in Georgia.
The bodies of the victims was found by fire crews early Wednesday morning in Athens after a neighbor called to report the blaze, the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department said in a statement.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports the victims were two women and a girl. Authorities said their bodies were taken to the State Crime Lab for positive identification.

A boy who escaped the blaze suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation, Athens-Clarke Fire Capt. Nathan Moss told the newspaper. The child was transported to a hospital for treatment.
