Ex-NFL Coach Jeff Fisher Interested in Montana St. Opening
A former NFL head coach who guided one of his two teams to a Super Bowl appearance reportedly has an interest in a college football opening at an FCS school.
FootballScoop reported on Sunday that Jeff Fisher, the former head coach of the Houston/Tennessee Oilers/Titans and the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams has an interest in the head coaching opening at Montana St.
Montana St., which is located in Bozeman, Montana, is a member of the Big Sky Conference.
The Bobcats are looking to replace Jeff Choate, who left to become the co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at Texas.

Nearly four weeks after the Texas Longhorns hired Steve Sarkisian as the program’s 31st head coach, the school announced the addition of Sarkisian’s 10th and final on-field assistant, former Montana State head coach Jeff Choate.
“Jeff is an awesome final piece to an assistant coaching staff that, as I’ve said before, I’ll put up against anyone in the country,” Sarkisian said. “He is a highly-respected, accomplished coach who has a long history of working with outstanding defenses and developing players. With the hire of Montana State head coach Jeff Choate as inside linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisianâs staff is now complete. There are some helpful breadcrumbs in some of the title designations and known pay scales to deduce how this staff is going to work together and what the philosophy and approach will be on defense.
Choate has worked with Pete Kwiatkowski in the past, both at Boise State working with the linebackers and then at Washington helping with the defensive line and special teams. The timing of his hire, coming off the heels of Mike Stoops reports and then a resounding backlash to those reports, suggests Choate is Peteâs guy.
