Born on this day in 1939, Ian Hunter Patterson, British singer-songwriter and musician who is best known as the lead singer of Mott the Hoople, turns 82. He also worked in collaboration with Mick Ronson, David Bowie s sideman and arranger from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars period. His best-known solo songs are Once Bitten, Twice Shy , later covered by Great White.
