The intense wet weather southern parts of the west coast has endured in recent weeks is due to a series of cold fronts which have lingered across the region.
The weather system has brought wind gusts of more than 100km/h and heavy bursts of rain which have left streets flooded, particularly around Jurien Bay.
If today s downpour is heavy enough, this will break another record for Perth, resulting in 16 days in a row of solid rain, something which hasn t occurred since 2009.
