Acura s new SUV flagship is on its way.
The next-generation 2022 Acura MDX just entered production at Honda s East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio. The plant, which first opened more than 30 years ago, has produced more than six million cars, including the Honda CR-V, Acura RDX, and the new MDX. In the past, this factory also built the Honda Civic, Accord, Element, Crosstour, and Acura CL.
The 2022 MDX SUV was revealed in December after Acura previously showed off a prototype version in September. As with most made-in-America vehicles, the MDX has a short wait from the reveal to production. It won t be long before the MDX rolls off the assembly line and into the driveways of new owners. Acura says dealerships will receive inventory starting on February 2, 2021.

Honda intends for the new 2022 MDX to serve as the flagship of its luxury brand, a vehicle that will make a statement when others see it for the first time. Early on, we coined the term valet credibility, said Tom Nguyen, the Acura MDX global development leader. This is a car that you re not embarrassed in any way to pull up and have valet parking at your restaurant. It s clearly the premium product. That s communicated at first by the exterior proportion and styling.

EAST LIBERTY Acura celebrated the official production start of the all-new 2022 Acura MDX at the East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio on Tuesday.
The fourth-generation MDX, has been completely redesigned from the ground up to serve as the new flagship of the Acura brand. Based on Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance DNA, it is the most premium, performance-focused and technologically advanced SUV in Acura history. The 2022 MDX will begin arriving at Acura dealerships Feb. 2.
