Vaccinations increase locally, statewide - Roswell Daily Record

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record Another 15,000 people received COVID-19 vaccinations in the state including nearly 200 in Chaves County, according to Friday’s update on the New Mexico Department of Health’s vaccine dashboard. The state has administered 480,810 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. That includes 318,509 primary doses and 162,301 second doses. In Chaves County, an additional 59 people received their first dose of vaccine compared to Thursday’s update, and 131 received a second dose. So far, 5,590 people in Chaves County have received a primary dose, or 11.3% of the population over the age of 16. The number of fully vaccinated Chaves County residents is 2,241, or 4.5% of the population 16 or older.

The deceased were a man in his 30s with underlying health conditions, a woman in her 60s with underlying health conditions, and two men in their 90s. One was a resident of Casa Maria Health Care Center, 1601 S. Main St., and had underlying health conditions. Of the other deaths, seven were from Bernalillo County; two each were from Luna, Sandoval and San Juan counties; and one each was from Cibola, Doña Ana, Eddy, Lea, Los Alamos and Socorro counties.

Chamber of Commerce takes new direction for community in 2021

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record After a tumultuous 2020, the Roswell Chamber of Commerce is taking a new direction, signified by appointing its now-former chairwoman of the board of directors as its new staff leader and changing that position’s title. Andrea Moore became chairwoman of the chamber’s board in July and added the duties of interim executive director when Candace Purcella resigned at the beginning of August. Friday, Moore told the Roswell Daily Record the board had voted Thursday to make her Purcella’s replacement. The position has been retitled president and chief executive officer, a move Moore said reflects restructuring at chambers of commerce across the country.

The deceased are a woman in her 60s and three men in their 70s. One of the men was a resident of Casa de Oro Center in Las Cruces. One of the other men had been hospitalized and had underlying health conditions. Bernalillo County reported 14 deaths Friday; Doña Ana County reported four; Sandoval County reported three; Eddy, Lea and Otero counties each reported two; and Colfax, Curry, Grant, Guadalupe, McKinley, Roosevelt and Sierra counties each reported one.
