Pamela Jo-Anne Jacobson, (nee Dagg), passed away peacefully at Lakehead Manor, Thunder Bay, Ontario on June 30, 2021. Born on November 2nd, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec, she moved with her parents and older brother to Holland, Manitoba in 1944. In 1949, she began her education in the school attended by her father, Walter Dagg and all her aunts and uncles. The family moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William), Ontario in 1951 and Jo-Anne attended Kingsway Park K-8, FWCI, and graduated from McKellar School of Nursing in 1965. She was employed at McKellar General Hospital and several nursing homes, and Lakehead Manor for twenty years until she retired at age 60. She was a faithful member of the Broadway United Church family. In earlier years, she attended Brownies and Girl Guides, achieving her Gold Cord.
EDMONTON Edmontonians wearing red gathered downtown Wednesday to remember missing and murdered loved ones as part of Red Dress Day. The event started with a drumming ceremony at Churchill Square before the group marched to Beaver Hills House Park. I m very thankful and grateful that we came out to this event today to honour and to celebrate our missing and loved ones, organizer Judith Gale told CTV News. They are very dearly missed so we want to bring that to light and celebrate them today. Gale says red is significant because it is a spiritual colour in Indigenous culture.
EDMONTON Mayor Don Iveson is planning to order a formal inquiry after video surfaced of police officers forcing homeless Edmontonians out of an LRT station into frigid temperatures. “Asking city administrators to bring back a report on our extreme weather protocol clarifying what our city employees, including police, are expected to do with citizens experiencing homelessness and other situations that put them at risk, Iveson said.
The video shows Edmonton Police Service officers removing homeless people from the Central LRT station. It was taken by a member of the Bear Clan Patrol who was at the station giving food to people escaping the cold weather.
