Marian Rose (Stout) Tate, 95, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Saturday April 17, 2021 at home. She was born March 30, 1926 in St. Clairsville, OH, a daughter of the late John A. Stout and Marie (Pasco) Stout Manley. On September 4, 1942 she married the love of her life, Chalmer E. Tate. Chalmer and Rose eventually made their home in Brilliant, OH with their eight children. The most enjoyable moments of Rose’s life were shared with Chalmer, their children and their grandchildren. Their door was always open to family and their extended family of friends. Chalmer and Rose were among the original group of couples that formed the Brilliant American Legion Post 573. Rose spent many years working in the canteen, serving as an officer and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She participated in many Legion functions, especially the fish fries.

Death mourned of longtime supporter of Democratic Party

Death mourned of longtime supporter of Democratic Party OKLAHOMA CITY – The sudden death of Judy Calhoun, a longtime advocate of workers’ rights and Oklahoma Democratic Party ideals, is being mourned by many. The Oklahoma Democratic Party issued a statement expressing condolences to Calhoun’s family. Calhoun served on the Oklahoma Democratic Party’s Central Committee from 2001-2019. She was the 4th Congressional District vice chair from 2007 to 2009 and served as secretary in other years. She was a delegate to Democratic national conventions in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. She also was an active member of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) Local 1999 and served as financial secretary and treasurer. She was a long-time member of the Oklahoma Federation of Democratic Women – South OKC Women’s Club and also served as an officer in that organization.
