Jackson resident wins $50,000 in Chips Ahoy! contest

WBBJ TV July 20, 2021 Jim Wilhelm is a winning contestant in the Chip’s Got Talent contest. It’s a contest through America’s Got Talent that promotes Chips Ahoy! cookies. Wilhelm, who is a vocal impressionist, won $50,000 from the contest by impersonating different characters from TV shows. One of them was Elmo. He says he is grateful to be a winner and plans to do plenty with the money. “I expect to make some changes in my life. Get a decent car, work at getting my career going, and also help some people out. There is some people in my family I’d like to help out,” Wilhelm said.

A West Side man has been identified as the person killed in a weekend crash

Columbus police on Monday released the identity of the driver who was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Far West Side. Richard Mitchem, 32, of the West Side, was driving a Chevrolet Impala southbound on Hilliard Rome Road at a high rate of speed about 12:45 a.m. Saturday when he lost control just south of the Glenchester Drive intersection, police said. Police said the car went off the right, or west side of the roadway and crashed into one tree in a row of trees outside an apartment complex. Mitchem was pronounced dead at the scene by Prairie Township medics. His death was the 15th traffic fatality in the city this year.
