The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has appointed Nausicaa Delfas (pictured) as interim chief executive and chief ombudsman. Delfas succeeds Caroline Wayman, who has stepped down after seven years as chief executive and chief ombudsman; she joins FOS from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), where she is currently the executive director of international and interim chief operating officer. Delfas will officially take up the role on 17 May, and will be in post while the board carries out an open recruitment process for a permanent chief executive and chief ombudsman. Zahida Manzoor, chairman baroness, said: “I am delighted to welcome Nausicaa Delfas to the Financial Ombudsman Service as our interim chief executive and chief ombudsman; she brings a wealth of experience and a firm understanding of the environment within which we are operating and the challenges that lie ahead.

FOS appoints Nausicaa Delfas as interim chief By Leah Milner 19 The Financial Ombudsman Service has appointed Nausicaa Delfas as interim chief executive and chief ombudsman. Delfas will stand in for Caroline Wayman who is leaving the role after seven years, until a permanent replacement is found. Nausicaa joins from the FCA where she is currently the executive director of international and interim chief operating officer. She will be taking up the new role on May 17. Delfas joins at a difficult time for the dispute service, which is facing a complaints backlog, job cuts and strong criticism of its operations.
