More good news for lovers of live musical performances! The Santa Fe Desert Chorale (SFDC) announced programming details for the all-professional chorale’s 39
th year. Following postponements of its 2020 summer and winter festival programming due to COVID-19, SFDC continues its theme of
Unlikely Partners in 2021. The Santa Fe Desert Chorale 2021 Summer Festival runs July 18 – August 6 and features three programs:
The Jew and the Gentile: Salamone Rossi and Claudio Monteverdi,
Roaring ‘20s, and
East Meets West. All concerts will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and will be presented in accordance with New Mexico public health orders (click here for Safety Protocols).

Oppositely, in NY series where blue colors appeared, it was a harsh ocean blue combined with oxide black. For example, âRadiator Building â Night,â oil on canvas of an Art Deco skyscraper in front of a night backdrop with two contrasting building on either side. The left building has a horizontal line that is fire hydrant red; a stark geometric form that is strong and intimidating. Compared to the building on the right, the Radiant Building, with smoke protruding out; the soft organic lines blend into the night sky. The flowing smoke possibly is a reflection of Georgia, as she is stuck in the claustrophobic NYC and is frustratingly trying to escape and blend in with nature. Which she achieved when she moved to the open air of New Mexico.

The abstracted architecture shimmers and folds across an acrylic canvas in phosphorescent hues that both beckon and disturb.
Michael Namingha’s (Tewa/Hopi) operatic “Altered Landscapes” series is abstract, photography-based work. The bent angles juxtapose geometric shapes in bright neon colors against black-and-white aerial landscapes from the Four Corners region. The artist mounted the compositions to shaped plexiglass, creating the illusion of sculpture.

Sotheby’s is to sell the art collection of the Texan rancher, oil heiress, and cultural philanthropist Anne Marion over a series of sales this spring, estimated to bring in over $150m in total.
Marion passed away in February 2020, leaving behind a formidable cache of mostly post-war American art including Clyfford Still’s
PH-125 (1948, est. $25m-$35m), Andy Warhol’s
Elvis 2 Times (1963, est. $20m-$30m), and Richard Diebenkorn’s
Ocean Park No. 40 (1971, est. $20m-$30m).
