Love it or hate it, the Green Dragon Farmers Market and Auction near Ephrata has long been a Lancaster County landmark.
While the market itself is more than 80 years old, the history of the location - and the name - stretches back nearly a full century.
We decided to take a look into the LNP | LancasterOnline archives (and the Journal of the Lancaster County Historical Society) to see what interesting nuggets of Green Dragon history we could unearth.

A natural gas line was broken in Fort Dodge late Monday morning, but no evacuations were necessary.
The incident was reported at 11:27 a.m. in the 400 block of North 18th Street.
Fire Department Lt. Jon Schreck said an excavation crew hit what appeared to be a 2-inch diameter gas distribution line.
He said firefighters using metering equipment detected some gas near the hole in the ground. He said no gas was detected in any of the nearby homes.
Firefighters were on the scene for about half an hour. MidAmerican Energy crews were there through the afternoon making repairs.

He was the most feared, respected and revered Chief Racing stipe to ever hold the position.
