Soledad Canyon Brush Fire Prompts Response In Santa Clarita
A Soledad Canyon brush fire in Santa Clarita prompted a response from firefighters Wednesday.
UPDATE: All eastbound lanes of Soledad Canyon Road have been temporarily closed due to the incident at Langside Avenue.
Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a brush fire on Soledad Canyon Road and Penlon Way in Canyon Country, said Jon Matheny, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
When units arrived on scene, they reported a quarter-acre burning uphill with no structures threatened according to Matheny.
A majority of the brush response, including the helicopters, have been canceled, according to Fire officials.
Canyon Fire Ignites On 5 Freeway North Of Santa Clarita
The Canyon Fire ignited Friday afternoon just north of Santa Clarita on the 5 Freeway.
UPDATE (2:50 p.m.): The fire has burned six acres with fire running uphill. No structures are currently threatened. The No. 3 and No. 4 lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway are expected to be shut down for at least one hour, according to California Highway Patrol Incident logs.

A brush fire on the 5 Freeway prompted a response from firefighters Wednesday morning near Santa Clarita, and was held to a half acre..
The brush fire, dubbed the Ridge Fire, was first reported to firefighters around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, said Jon Matheny, an inspector for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
As of 10:30 a.m., the Castaic brush fire has burned a half acre withforward progression of the fire stopped, according to Fire officials.
Ridge Route Road is expected to temporarily be closed in both directions near Lake Hughes Road, according to Fire officials.
