Neosho Schools reorganize board, recognize programs

The Neosho Board of Education met on Apr. 19, reorganizing the board after the recent elections, recognizing some of the districts programs and their successes and getting an update on the Performing Arts Center (PAC)
First, with the same number of candidates running for the number of open seats, Steffen Wiest and Dan Haskins were sworn in again as members of the board.
Then; Jonathan Russell was elected board president, Wiest was elected as vice president and Haskins was elected as secretary.
Next, the district recognized several programs and their students for their achievements this year that included the FFA program, choir, band and the wrestling team.
Elected candidates share gratitude, thoughts on election victories

The April election results have been fully reported and a number of big changes are coming to leadership roles around the lake. Among the more significant races, Camdenton mayor John McNabb was reelected, write-in candidate Dennis Newberry took a major win for Lake Ozark Mayor, and both Butts and Griswold took wins for the pair of Camdenton R-III school board seats.
The following morning, the Lake Sun reached out to the winning candidates for reactions to their victories.
McNabb says he appreciates the confidence voters have in him, as he enters his ninth year as Camdenton mayor. With a number of major city projects in the works, including the city community building and new VA clinic, McNabb feels that his work in building new business around the area has gained trust from residents.
Neosho Board of Education accepts Steele resignation, updates from work session

The Neosho Board of Education met for a work session on Apr. 5; formally accepting the resignation of board member David Steele, receiving updates on the facilities projects and incoming Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds and approving bids.
Replacing Steele
Outgoing board member David Steele, who stepped down due to other obligations, accepted a plaque from board president Kim Wood thanking him for his service at the Apr. 5 work session.
At the end of the meeting, the board discussed their options when it came to replacing Steele with Wood stating that the last time there was a resignation on the board that they accepted letters of interest from the community and suggested they do so again.
