With its scenic locales, low taxes and friendly neighborhood community, Sussex County is the perfect place for retirees to settle.
Throughout their 50-year marriage, Margie and Bruce Beacham asked themselves one question every time they visited a new place: “Would we like to retire here?”
They found their answer in 2018 when they bought a meticulously restored 1840 farmhouse in Lewes. With 3.5 acres, there’s lots of room for their two Labrador retrievers to romp. Family and friends who visit appreciate the pool and two guest cottages.

One Sunday morning years ago I was walking across Mexico City’s
zócalo, the grand square abutting the cathedral and the presidential palace. Street vendors swarm there until the cops roust them. A middle-aged man in a grey windbreaker had opened a box of blue-covered paperback edition of the Mexican Constitution, the kind that’s given free to schools and trade unions. “Buy the Mexican Constitution!” he cried. “Sorry,” I told him. “I don’t like fiction.”

As this very difficult year comes to a close, the Milton Community Foundation would like to thank the Milton community businesses, community organizations, and residents living in Milton and in the surrounding areas and towns for your support. Because of you, MCF was able to do the following:
• Raise over $19,000 to purchase Food Lion gift cards, and, working with different Milton organizations and schools, distribute $16,000 in Food Lion gift cards to families in need.
• Donate over $3,000 in Food Lion gift cards and cash to the Milton Community Food Pantry to support its holiday food distribution.
• When the building with the businesses The Nest Spa, The Paisley Moon Salon and The Speckled Roost caught fire, MCF raised over $5,000 and donated over $1,800 to each of these businesses.
