We reap what we sow
These are very capable individuals who are yet placed in a contentious scenario where a parliamentary commissioner such as this one has to deal with both sides of a tribal political divide, which means any political baggage of said advisors could be weaponised as a sign of mistrust

Standards Commissioner George Hyzler
When Joseph Muscat came up with the idea of appointing the lawyer and former PN parliamentary secretary George Hyzler as Standards Commissioner, he knew exactly what he was doing.
In his usual, imperfect game of political chessm he knew that appointing a former Nationalist MP and parliamentary secretary would not be vetoed by the Opposition, and seen favourably by the public as an act of political inclusion.
We are all made of the same stuff
I found the comments in Tuesday’s articles about my late husband, Frans Sammut, refusing to start a blog very interesting indeed.
Some commentators were sceptic about the veracity of my son’s testimony! Is it true that some people can be so naive? Is there anything to be sceptic about? I can vouch that the testimony is as true as the fact that I’m writing this letter!
There were those who claimed that they were friends and even close friends to my late husband; still no one ever came forward offering any help, nor did anyone lend a helping hand when we, as a family, were in need.
In affidavit to tribunal, PBS manager told of sexual harassment from Bundy
Junior manager told tribunal in affidavit that Bundy harassed her and compelled her in obtaining access to chairman’s office to take copies of board minutes

John Bundy had hosted a series of Labour political activities in the run up to the 2013 general elections. In August 2016 he was hand-picked by the Muscat administration to become PBS chief executive officer
A junior manager at the Public Broadcasting Services told the industrial tribunal hearing former CEO John Bundy’s unfair dismissal claim, that in separate incidents he had sexually harassed her and “compelled” her in providing her with minutes from the PBS board of directors.
Something is glaringly wrong at Guardamangia Hill, where the state broadcaster has its main offices and studios. And it is not just about “due impartiality” in news and current affairs programmes.
The industrial tribunal award, which found that former CEO John Bundy was unfairly dismissed, raises serious questions about how PBS goes about its business. One can only hope other government entities are not run in the same manner.
The tribunal’s decision on compensation is worrying and there does not seem to be a detailed explanation of how it arrived to the sum of €226,488.98. It is not bound to but, given the quantum, it would have put many minds at rest. Usually, such compensation is based on the real losses incurred.
