A long established Tipperary jeweller has hit out at businesses which he feels took advantage of restrictions imposed during the lockdown.
Cahir based John Quirke was among the outlets which have had to remain closed during much of the pandemic.
On Tipp Today earlier he was critical of other businesses who could remain open for adding items that he would normally sell to their product range.
“A fierce contentious issue altogether because the essential shops that were privileged to remain open, maybe some of them took advantage of our misfortune of being closed and they started to sell some of the very same items.”

A woman was caught handling stolen clothing when an investigating garda became suspicious of items offered for sale online at half their market value.
Garda Darrgh Frewen traced the poster of the adverts back to Julie McMahon (47) and secured a warrant to search her home.

A FATHER-OF-one who attacked an intoxicated man in an alley has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that Nathan Harold (26) stole from the victim who had been turned away from a nightclub, punched him a number of times and stamped on him as he was leaving.
Harold of no fixed abode but previously Rathoath Avenue, Finglas pleaded guilty to robbery at Camden Place, Dublin city centre, on 22 November 2019. His 55 previous convictions include convictions for theft, possession of drugs and public order offences.
