Will killers of Takoradi girls become first to be executed by death sentence since 1993?

Samuel Udoetuk Wills and John Oji have been sentenced to death Two Nigerians, Samuel Udoetuk Wills and John Oji were on Friday, March 5, 2020 condemned to death by a Sekondi High Court. The two were found guilty of the kidnap and subsequent murder of Ruth Abakah, 19; Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21; Ruth Love Quayson,18 and Priscilla Koranchie, 15 between July and December 2018. The two convicts now have a 30-day period to appeal the ruling. It remains to be seen if the two murderers will trigger an appeal option which is on the table for thirty days. If they refuse to exercise that option or fail in their appeal, they will join over 160 people who have been sentenced to the death since 1993.

Three families of the murdered Takoradi girls are demanding the two convicts are killed on live TV for the world to see. Speaking to Joy News on the sidelines of a press conference held earlier on Monday, sister of Ruth Love Quayeson, Nana Adjoa Quayeson and father of Priscilla Blessing Bentum, said they do not accept that their relatives are dead. A Sekondi High Court, presided over by Justice Agyei Frimpong, on Friday, March 5, 2021, sentenced two persons arrested in connection with the kidnapping and deaths of the girls. The suspects; Samuel Udeotuk Wills and John Oji, were charged for kidnapping and murdering Ruth Abakah, 19; Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21; Ruth Love Quayson, 18 and Priscilla Koranchie, 15, who were captured at Kansawurodo, Butumagyebu and Nkroful Junction, all in Sekondi-Takoradi of the Western Region.

Awudome Cemetery: Robber shot by police after attacking passer-by

– The robber, together with his accomplice stabbed a passer-by – An amount of 250 cedis and a phone was stolen from the passer-by Police officials at the Kaneshie municipality have shot dead an armed robber at the Awudome Cemetery. The robber is said to have stabbed and robbed a passer-by robbing him of this phone and cash of 250 cedis. A police report recounting the incident shows the victim running to the nearby police post for assistance but there was no trace of them after the police combed nearby bushes. The robbers strategized and laid ambush until they resurfaced from the cemetery again in an attempt to rob another target.
