Fire officials in Leeds and Grenville are reminding residents to be cautious with fireworks ahead of Victoria Day.
Local firefighters are anticipating residents to set up their own displays with public gatherings still on hold due to the stay-at-home order.
Fire Prevention Officer John Okum says with that in mind, it’s important to know exactly what to do if you’re doing your own display.
He says the best way to do that is by following the given guidelines.
“You should know the proper use and handling of fireworks before using them,” Okum said. “It’s important to note that sparklers alone can reach temperatures of 1500 degrees celsius and can cause severe burns.”
