The borough council’s second online survey on the GWR Park in Faringdon Road has gone live. The first, back in May drew responses from more than 400 people and will form a draft conservation management plan. This document will set out suggested improvements for the park over the next 10 years and the support available to South Swindon Parish Council with managing it. Heritage Action Zone project officer Karen Phimister said: “We had a great response from people from the first survey. But we would like to know if everybody agrees with the changes that will be made so we can respond to the conservation management plan.”

Swindon must still make case for £19 5m for regeneration projects

Labour councillor Janine Howarth questioned the Conservative leader David Renard about the progress of the council s bid for the money. She added: It s the case that we still have to make the business case for the projects and we haven t actually got the money. Coun Renard said the governmnet had agreed to fund six different regeneration projects, which will add up to £19.5 if the business cases are approved, and that the Towns Fund Board is working on those cases.

Plans revealed for 3-storey retail and housing scheme for Cavendish Square

A NEW three-storey residential and retail building could be built in Cavendish Square. The privately-owned land was due be bought back by Swindon Borough Council at the start of 2020 following a campaign by residents, but it fell through due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now these plans have been submitted to by architect Ian Sullivan on behalf of G&D Estates for six retail units, 14 flats and 17 associated parking spaces.
