Jackson County United Way hosts Annual Day of Caring

Courtesy-JCUW FB page JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. – Jackson County United Way (JCUW) is again gearing up for its annual day of caring, and this year will mark the 25th anniversary. Stephanie Strothmann, United Way Community Impact Director, is leading the staff to find projects and support volunteers for the event on May 11. Leaders on this year’s committee include Justin Amos and Chad Keithley. JCUW said, “We know that Day of Caring is an important event to our community, and last year, due to the beginning of the health emergency, we were unsure if we would hold the event. We persevered and 2020 was a success. We are hoping to expand our groups in 2021.”

Following the shooting death of 19-year-old and the arrest of a 15-year-old in that murder, residents are speaking out, calling for everyone to step up and help put an end to the violence. “How many more young men have to die until we finally come together as a community to hear and answer the cry for help?” questioned one comment on the WLOX Facebook page.

Jackson County United Way creates Resource Round Up

Courtesy-JCUW FB page SEYMOUR, Ind. – Jackson County United Way (JCUW) has designed a new resource management database that is available to assist those needing help in the community. Resource Round Up allows agencies and other organizations to list their services to Jackson County community members in need and is available 24/7. Community members needing assistance will be able to access services that are listed on the database. Residents should be able to find assistance in areas such as clothing, food, health insurance, and more. “We are proud to launch Resource Round Up to ensure updated information for a variety of health and human service needs,” said JCUW Executive Director Tonja Couch.
