Path for tendering cleared now; but oppn asks why it took six years

Municipal Corporation (PMC) received the Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) approval on the pre-bid queries, clearing a path for the tendering process. A loan agreement was signed between the
PMC and
JICA on January 14, 2016, for pollution abatement of Mula and Mutha rivers. The project timeline was of January 2022, and the cost was approximately estimated to be Rs 990.26 crore.
JICA will be giving a loan of 85 per cent of the total project cost, but this estimate was calculated in 2016. Now, the opposition is alleging that the project cost will go up to Rs 1,600 crore.
