JAMMU, Mar 10: Following threat of en masse resignations by all District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons, vice chairpersons and members on the issue of Warrant of Precedence, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called their representatives for discussions over the issue on May 12 after his return from the Union capital to resolve the deadlock.
After getting the invite from the Lieutenant Governor, the DDC representatives deferred their agitation as well as plan to resign en masse.
Sources told the Excelsior that BJP president Ravinder Raina, who had yesterday written letter to Sinha demanding that issues raised by the DDC chairpersons, deputies and members be addressed, today spoke to the Lieutenant Governor on telephone, who is camping in New Delhi and briefed him on threat by all DDC members to resign en masses if their Warrant of Precedence is no

Political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir also extended their support to the demands of the recently elected District Development Council (DDC) members who have intensified their protest against the warrant of precedence issued by the government and have threatened to resign altogether.

SRINAGAR: Cutting across the party lines, members of district development councils in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Tuesday staged protests against the government’s orders about their honorarium and protocol at Jammu where they all had gathered to attend a training programme organized by the Rural Development Department.
All elected DDC members from BJP, NC, PDP, Congress, PC and other parties staged protests outside the convention centre over their honorarium and protocol, saying it was a humiliation to them. They are refusing to attend the training programme.
“This is our insult and humiliation,” Shabir Ahmad Lone, DDC member from Rohama Rafiabad told news agency KNO.

JAMMU, Mar 9: In a virtual revolt against the Warrant of Precedence issued yesterday, almost all District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons, vice chairpersons and members have threatened to resign en masse if the Government fails to revise the protocol as cutting across their political affiliation all DDC members resorted to protests outside the Jammu Convention Centre after which Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha cancelled his address to the members at two days ‘Capacity Building Programme’ for the Council members organized by the Rural Development Department.
