Seaway incentive program expected to boost soybean exports at Monroe

Seaway incentive program expected to boost soybean exports at Monroe Janna Fritz, chief executive officer for the Michigan Soybean Committee, recently spoke with Brownfield Ag News about a new partnership in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway that is expected to boost agricultural exports at ports like the Port of Monroe. The Gateway Incentive Program is offering a 50 percent reduction on tolls for new shipments of soybeans and agricultural freight through the St. Lawrence Seaway this shipping season, according to Soybean Weekly.  “We absolutely hope that this new partnership creates an opportunity to increase the supply chain diversity and resiliency for the benefit of all soybean farmers in Michigan and anywhere along the seaway,” Fritz said.

Michigan Soybean Committee has new name, office, logo

Richard Hamilton Smith/Getty Images CHANGES: The Michigan Soybean Committee and Michigan Soybean Association have new logos and are moving headquarters to St. Johns, Mich. The changes are designed to better serve Michigan soybean growers. Recognizing that the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee does more than just promotion, the checkoff organization has changed its name to the Michigan Soybean Committee. While promotion and outreach remain a key focus area, there also is a major focus on market development and production research, says Janna Fritz, who took over as CEO in July 2019 for both the Michigan Soybean Committee and the Michigan Soybean Association.
