PM Rajapaksa inquires regarding former Maldivian President s health

Tuesday, 11 May 2021 - 17:12 Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has inquired regarding the health of former Maldivian President and current Speaker Mohamed Nasheed who is currently being treated in an Intensive Care Unit after being seriously injured in a bomb attack which was carried out on 06 May. The Prime Minister s Office stated that the Prime Minister had made a telephone call to Mohamed Nasheed’s father today (11), to inquire about the former President’s health condition. The Prime Minister wished Nasheed a speedy recovery and requested that he be informed if Nasheed requires any help in his recovery. Meanwhile, it was reported that former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed is conscious after life-saving surgery, his family said as police made two arrests in connection with a blast they said was being treated as a terror attack.

Maldives: Police arrest key suspect in bomb attack Security forces say they re holding the third suspect in the attack that critically wounded former President Mohamed Nasheed. Police are still searching for a fourth suspect The blast on Thursday night outside former President Mohamed Nasheed s home in the capital city of Male left him in a critical condition. Police say they now have in their custody three of the four suspects involved in the explosion, blamed on Islamic extremists. Police did not provide further details on the suspect but appealed for more information about another man seen in the area of the attack.
