California Man Sentenced to over 4 Years in Prison for Unlawfully Possessing Ammunition as a Felon Details Written by FBI
Sacramento, California - Carlos Biviescas, 29, of Vacaville, was sentenced Tuesday to four years and nine months in prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
According to court documents, in May 2020, Biviescas was arrested for driving on a suspended license. A search of his car revealed a backpack containing a ghost gun loaded with an extended magazine containing 29 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition. The backpack also contained an additional 21 additional rounds of ammunition. Biviescas cannot lawfully possess firearms or ammunition because he has previously been convicted of two felony offenses.
FAIRFIELD A Dixon woman has been found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting corporal injury to the father of her child, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office announced.
The jury rendered the decision Wednesday in Department 1 of the Solano County Superior Court.

Investigations of man hit, killed by Benicia police car into 5th month
BENICIA There are no new details being released from the investigations into the death of a pedestrian who was struck Nov. 11 by a Benicia patrol car.
Scott Hamers, 48, was hit and killed about 2 a.m. on the 1900 block of East Second Street, north of Interstate 780, where the road goes under the overpass, the CHP reported at the time.
It remains unclear where Hamers was when he was struck or how fast the police officer was traveling when the incident occurred. The CHP did report that the officer was not responding to a call at the time.

Fairfield teen shot Easter Sunday dies after 2 weeks in hospital
FAIRFIELD A Vanden High student-athlete who was shot Easter Sunday has died, authorities and family members of the teen reported.
Daniel D. Hughes, 17, a junior at Vanden High, died Sunday and becomes the city’s second reported homicide victim of the year.
His death prompted police and prosecutors to re-evaluate charges that had previously been filed against the suspected gunman.
An 18-year-old charged with the shooting is scheduled to return to court May 28 for a readiness conference and to set dates for a preliminary hearing.
