Denis Xenos, the owner of Denis Country Kitchen in Lodi, California, claims to have found a loophole to legally keep his small business open against the state s stay-at-home order during the coronavirus pandemic.
Owner Ned Ayyoub declined multiple requests for an on-camera interview. He did say he is just trying to stay in business, and referred ABC7 to a lawyer, who never did get in touch.
Ayyoub cites constitutional rights. A statement hangs on the darkened window just below his red neon open sign. I have no problem with it whatsoever, said another customer who preferred to not give his name. I had the virus already and you know what? No one here has caught it.

Richard McCormick
FAIRFIELD A Fairfield man convicted of 10 counts of sexual assault on children over the course of decades will likely spend the rest of his life in prison after a judge imposed a sentence Friday of more than 300 years.
Solano County Superior Court Judge William J. Pendergast III sentenced Richard McCormick, 62, to life in state prison, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
McCormick has a prior residential burglary conviction that played into the sentencing.
“Over the course of three decades, the defendant repeatedly sexually assaulted members of his own family, betraying the trust and love of two generations of the most vulnerable victims,” the District Attorney’s Office statement said. The victims “continued to live in fear for years” until they came forward in July 2018.

Man convicted in dangerous police chase remains in jail, awaits sentencing
Americo P. Mendoza
FAIRFIELD A man who led police on a high-speed chase this summer remained in jail Thursday after being convicted last week of evading police with disregard to public safety.
Americo P. Mendoza, 42, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 4. He’s being held in lieu of $100,000 bail for the felony conviction.
Mendoza led police on a high-speed chase early Aug. 29 after Vacaville patrol officers tried to make a traffic stop on his vehicle in connection with a report of reckless driving.
The chase, which included Mendoza ignoring several stop signs, reached speeds in excess of 100 mph, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office reports. It ended at approximately 2 a.m. and some 33 miles later in American Canyon after Napa police joined the pursuit.
