Malda: A BJP Yuva Morcha leader and a party worker are among three persons arrested for the murder of a 48-year-old gold merchant in Hili block of South Dinajpur. The three have been remanded in police custody for seven days.
Victim Pradip Karmakar was shot at on his way home from his shop at Tior in Hili on Friday night, in what police primarily suspect to be a snatching attempt gone wrong. Karmakar succumbed to his wound on the way to Malda Medical College.
A bike abandoned by the shooters was first seized from the spot and it led police to arrest Subrata Mali, Prasanta Sahani and Sourav Ghosh on Saturday. Mali, the Hilli block secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha, was suspended by the party soon after his arrest.

CISF nabs two involved in fake job racket in Kolkata ANI | Updated: Mar 14, 2021 20:10 IST
New Delhi [India], March 14 (ANI): The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has apprehended two persons from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBIA) in Kolkata on Saturday in connection with a fake job racket in an airline company. On Saturday noon, on a tip-off, CISF surveillance and intelligence team of Kolkata airport laid a trap to identify two persons who were involved in fake job racket in GoAir, CISF told ANI on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Charanpreet Singh and Sourav Ghosh.
The accused introduced themselves as Human Resource (HR) personnel of airline company GoAir and they had offered jobs to two Kolkata-based girls as Customer Service Agent (CSA).
