Is culture s digital phase starting to fade or will online events continue?

When Project Arts Centre reopened the Gallery on May 13th with Luminous Void, a celebration of 20 years of the Experimental Film Society, it was the third time the exhibition had been rescheduled. “The plan had been for this big programme of events,” says artistic director Cian O’Brien. Now some will be online, but there is an increasing sense that culture’s digital phase may be fading – though not entirely disappearing. While Covid has made arts organisations up their digital game, and online events have removed geographical barriers, they are no replacement. “I have struggled to engage with work online,” says O’Brien. “Unless something really holds your attention, it doesn’t work. Cold case murder: Father denies ordering son to kill wife

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE: The husband of a woman who was shot to death in 1996 has been questioned in court about whether he ordered one of his sons to kill his wife. Ian Britton has denied having anything to do with her death and said a possible chat with a workmate about knocking her off was only talk . A court heard then-Blackwater resident Ian was having an affair with a family friend and had been on the verge of confessing his infidelity when his wife Dorothy was killed on about March 6. A Mackay Supreme Court jury heard she was shot in the head in her bed - her body was discovered by her daughter-in-law Maxine Britton the following evening.
