On June 25, Saddle Lake and St. Paul RCMP were called to help Saddle Lake Cree Nation emergency medical services after the boy was injured in a firearms incident, police said in a June 28 news release.

The boy was transported to hospital and then flown by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in stable condition.
The youth, from St. Paul, was arrested the same day and charged with aggravated assault. The youth was released on conditions to appear in St. Paul provincial youth court this month.
