ELKINS PARK The Cheltenham School Board appointed a temporary replacement during a virtual meeting ahead of Superintendent Wagner Marseilleâs departure, the school district announced in a statement.
The nine-member board selected Nancy Hacker, former Springfield Township School District superintendent, to fill the position on an interim basis. Her start date has not yet been announced, according to a school district spokesperson.
âWe are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Hacker as interim superintendent as we search for our next superintendent. Dr. Hacker brings an enormous amount of experience, expertise and wisdom to this role, and we are grateful to her for her service,â said School Board President Joel I. Fishbein in a May 5 statement.
ELKINS PARKÂ â Cheltenham School District Superintendent Wagner Marseille will soon step down from his post serving as the districtâs highest ranking educational official.
Marseille announced his resignation in an April 9 letter to families and staff members, extending his appreciation for those within the school district.
âThank you to the Cheltenham community, staff, faculty, students, and community partners for allowing me the privilege of serving as the superintendent for a school district about which you carry a deep affinity,â Marseille said in the April 9 letter.

Marseille first took on the superintendent role for the Montgomery County school district in 2015, according to a spokesperson. His resignation will take effect on June 30, following the end of the 2020-21 academic year.Â
