Questions posed to Hendersonville City Council candidates during a Henderson County Chamber of Commerce forum Thursday centered on business and the local economy.
Henderson County (Aug 13, 2021) - The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce will host a virtual candidate forum for the Hendersonville City Council and mayoral election from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19.
“This is it in regards to Laurel Park and Hendersonville,” said Aaron Troutman, an election specialist at the Henderson County Board of Elections.
Henderson County Republican Party Chairwoman Chelsea Walsh filed to run for Hendersonville’s City Council on Friday shortly before the filing period ended. Walsh’s position with the county’s Republican party prompted a call to the state’s board of elections to make sure her candidacy was legal, Troutman said. She was allowed to file for the council seat after state election officials assured local officials that it is legal for her to run. But Walsh must step aside and allow someone else in the party to appoint chief judges to polling sites during the election.
