ACP Khan also advised the officers to take care of their health and adhere to the instructions given by relevant authorities as well as the importance of assisting other government officials in the Western Division.

Chief Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Khan said the high movement of people was expected and they wanted to ensure that safety measures were followed at all times. “It is part of the organisation’s duties in ensuring that members of the public continue to be safe as they enjoy themselves during this festive period,” ACP Khan said. He urged members of the public to ensure their homes were secured before they went out.

Three men are currently in police custody after a raid conducted onboard an inter-island vessel that was returning from Kadavu yesterday, led to the seizure of illicit drugs believed to be marijuana. According to police, the raid was conducted by officers from Totogo, joint K9 Unit, and Waterpol. “Seized substances include dried branches and leaves found wrapped in aluminum foil inside a plastic and a big bag believed to be marijuana,” said police in a statement. Chief of Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Khan is advising the public that police operations around the four divisions have stepped up their focus on drugs, anticipating peddlers to be looking for quick means of earning money.
