Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 2) The House of Representatives has approved on final reading a bill lowering the height requirement for those who want to join the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Bureau of Corrections.
Voting 203-0 with six abstentions, the House on Tuesday passed House Bill 8261, also known as the PNP, BFP, BJMP and BuCor Height Equality Act.
The measure seeks to lower the height requirement for male applicants to 1.57 meters (5 feet, 2 inches) from the current 1.62 meters (5 feet, 4 inches).
