Pero kung wala naman, definitely the case will be dismissed, National Capital Region Police Office chief Major General Vicente Danao Jr. told reporters on Tuesday. Danao refused to provide details as to the strongest evidence they are holding against those allegedly involved in the death of Dacera.

Published January 26, 2021 3:40pm The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will continue to exist as the national clearing house even if there is a proposal in Congress to establish a stronger National Police Clearance System in the Philippines, Senator Ronald Bato Dela Rosa said Tuesday. This, after NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin expressed opposition to some provisions of Senate Bill No. 1581, which was filed by Dela Rosa. We are mandated by both laws to act as the national clearing house of criminal records, Lavin, said during a Senate hearing on the proposed measure, citing laws that established the NBI. If this is only to integrate the local databases of police clearance system, then we have no issue with that, he added.

Dela Rosa lamented the slow procurement of body cameras, saying that the use of body cameras in police operations was a program that has already spanned five PNP chiefs during the administration but has yet to be fully implemented.

The 24-member Senate on Tuesday passed a resolution expressing the sense of the Senate to welcome the decision of the Department of National Defense (DND) to answer the various calls for dialogue with the University of the Philippines (UP) on the termination of the 1989 UP-DND accord.

Sponsored by opposition Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, proposed Resolution 616 also urges “both parties to revisit the accord and to further urge DND to hold dialogues with other academic institutions to find a common ground that promotes the rule of law, peace and security, and protects academic freedom and the pursuit of excellence.”
Some senators said they would still push for further details, including the exact cost, of China s Sinovac vaccine when the chamber resumes its inquiry on Friday.
